Watchlists
Named symbol lists, pinned to your top bar
Watchlists are your short lists inside Optionomics: the symbols you care about most, surfaced where the app can use them—the top bar on every page, context switches in the Terminal, the For You widgets, and quick jumps into flow and analytics. A watchlist does not replace a broker portfolio; it orients the product around your names instead of the entire market.
Availability: All paid plans.
Named lists, one pinned to the top bar
You can keep up to 20 named watchlists, each holding up to 100 symbols. One list at a time is pinned to the top bar—its symbols become the live strip you see on every page—and you can switch which list is pinned at any moment.
Typical patterns: one list for core holdings, one for this week’s earnings names, one per strategy or sector you rotate through.
The top-bar strip
The pinned list renders as a strip in the top bar:
- Each chip shows the symbol and today’s % change, updating live while you are on the site—green up, red down.
- Clicking a chip opens that symbol’s Stock Workspace.
- Symbols beyond the visible strip collapse into a +N dropdown listing the rest with logos and changes.
- The list-name switcher on the left of the strip opens a menu of all your lists (with item counts): pick one to pin it, or choose Manage watchlists to open the manager.
If you have no lists yet, a + Watchlist button in the top bar starts your first one. The onboarding wizard can also seed a starter list from the markets you choose.
The watchlist manager
Manage watchlists opens an overlay available from anywhere in the app:
- Create a list with the name field (up to 60 characters).
- Rename, delete (its symbols stay on any other lists), or pin a list—the pin puts that list on your top bar.
- Add symbols with the “Add symbol…” field; unknown tickers are rejected with a clear message.
- The symbol table shows Symbol (with the company name), Price, and Today (% change), with a remove control per row.
Adding symbols from elsewhere
- Stock page: the bookmark icon in the Stock Workspace header—Add to a watchlist—is a checklist of your lists; tick the ones that should carry the symbol.
- The tape: the row menu on Flow and UOA includes an add-to-watchlist action, so a name that keeps printing is two clicks from your strip.
- Terminal: the Watch List panel manages the pinned list directly with its own add box (the terminal panel works with up to 30 symbols).
Where your lists power other features
- For You widgets: Watchlist movers, Watchlist sparklines, and Watchlist news read from your lists.
- Alerts: several starter recipes and templates focus on the names you watch.
- iOS app: the pinned list syncs to the mobile watchlist strip, the iPad sidebar rail, and the mobile Terminal’s Watchlist tab.
- AI Assistant: “My Watchlist” and “Watchlist News” starter prompts summarize your names on request.
Remember: A watchlist is your command center. Keep the pinned list focused on stocks you’re actively trading or watching, and use the other lists for rotation.
